Magazine Writing
A graduate of the Writing Seminars program at The Johns Hopkins University, I began my journalism career under the tutelage of Vida Roberts, the late fashion editor of The Baltimore Sun. Working with Vida, I gained a respect for both the craft of writing and benefits of the corporate freebee.
New York beckoned. I spent several years working in the magazine industry in Manhattan, and my writing appeared in publications including Self, Mademoiselle, and The New York Times regional newspapers. I also did a stint in San Francisco as an associate editor of Time-Warner's Health magazine.
After almost a decade, I find myself back where I began. American Salon (the first magazine I worked for) is celebrating its 130th anniversary, and I'm writing the copy for its monthly supplements. Each supplement focuses on the social, cultural, and economic climate of a decade. And, of course, fashion is center stage.
