Curatorial Work
The influence of cultural and economic trends on perfume bottles in the first half of the twentieth century was the focus of my exhibition, "Temptation, Joy, and Scandal: Fashion and Fragrance 1900-1950" held at the Museum at FIT in spring 2004. The exhibition featured more than 300 perfume presentations designed by artists such as Thayaht, Paul Iribe, and Sonya Delaunay for couturiers Madeleine Vionnet, Paul Poiret, and Jacques Heim. As the co-curator of the show, my duties have included the selection of 300 objects for display, writing the didactics, and the supervision of gallery preparations. I also wrote the accompanying ten-page brochure.
I also contributed to another FIT exhibition, entitled "The Artful Line." The exhibition featured drawing and prints from the university library's Special Collections. I oversaw the selection and installation of oral histories taken from such fashion industry icons as Geoffrey Beene and Ralph Lauren.
I am currently doing research for the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. My research deals with Warhol's time at Carnegie Tech in the late 1940s and the art gallery scene in the city during this time.
